One-to-one and small group tuition in Art, Design and Illustration, suitable for all ages and abilities - whether you're interested in drawing, painting and inking, comics, character and concept design, graphic design, printmaking, papercrafts, or any other aspect of illustration and image-making!
Each session is structured with a mixture of practical assignments and contextual studies, tailored to support the development of your individual creative practice.
Build confidence showing your artwork to others - whether that's a portfolio for a college or university application, or learning how to mount and frame your work for an exhibition.
Experience what goes on behind-the-scenes at a creative studio and exhibition space. Tuition sessions are held in the gallery, so there's no shortage of inspiration! Take advantage of the available space and spread out to make something bigger (or messier!) than you'd be able to at home.
I can also help with college and university applications and support students studying for GCSE, A-level, BTEC and Foundation courses in creative disciplines. (See also: GCSE English and Maths for KS4 and adult learners)
Location
Tuition sessions take place in the gallery at Aire Place Studios.
Aire Place Studios is a creative studio space and gallery, just off Kirkstall Road in Leeds.
Bus routes: 49, 50, 14, 33, 34, 60, 508 (use the stop for ITV)
Free parking is available - after turning into Aire Place Mills from Kirkstall Road, please continue through the blue gates and park in the spaces in front of our building.
Alternatively, we are situated a 20-minute walk from Burley Park train station or 25-minute walk from Leeds train station (about 5 minutes in a taxi).

1-hour sessions
One learner: £30.00
Two learners: £32.00
Three learners: £34.00
2- hour sessions
One learner: £55.00
Two learners: £57.00

Split the cost
Bring a friend to join the session at an additional cost of only £2
This means a one-hour session might cost £32 for two learners - if you split the cost with a friend it works out to £16 each. For three learners the total cost would be £34 - around £11.33 each.
Please note these sessions are designed for a maximum of 3 learners - please contact me to discuss larger group sizes. Additional learners must be booked in advance so I can prepare enough materials for the session.
Advanced booking discount
Book a block of 8 sessions to receive a discount of 10%.
This is redeemable on bookings of 8x 1-hour sessions, or 4x 2-hour sessions.

Rescheduling a session
I'm happy to change the date and time of a session - please contact me at least 24 hours before your scheduled session to arrange a different time.
Cancellations
If possible, please try and reschedule the session instead of cancelling it altogether! If you're not sure, please get in touch and we can find an arrangement that works for you.
To cancel upcoming sessions, please contact me at least 24 hours in advance. Unfortunately I am unable to offer refunds on short-notice cancellations (less than 24 hours).
In case of emergency
I totally understand - emergencies happen. If you're unable to make a session due to an emergency don't worry - just let me know whenever you're able to and we can re-arrange your session at no extra charge.
Late / missed sessions
Unfortunately I'm unable to refund missed sessions. If you're running late for a session please let me know as soon as possible in case we can shift to a later time. (Please understand that this might not always be possible!)
If I need to cancel or rearrange your session
If I am unable to make your session (eg. illness), I will contact you as soon as possible to reschedule at a time that suits you, or arrange a refund if we're unable to find an alternative time.
Payment terms
Payments should be made at least 24 hours before the session.
Payments should be made via bank transfer, although I'm happy to discuss alternative payment methods if this isn't possible!
Supervision and safety (for younger learners)
The gallery space is a communal area shared by members of Aire Place Studios. We would be using the space outside of the gallery's public opening times, so it's a secure space with no access to the general public.
I will never leave learners unsupervised during the sessions.
Parents and guardians can stay for the session if they wish, but I'm happy for you to drop off / collect your child after the session if you prefer. (There are some supermarkets down the road from the studios if you'd like to use this time to get some shopping!)
Please let me know who will be picking the learner up after the session. For older learners: please let me know if they will be making their own way home. This is for safety - so I don't let anyone wander off when they're not supposed to!
